Emma Bach stuffed the box score with 23 assists, four kills, four blocks and three aces to help San Marin rally out of a two-set hole for a 19-25, 23-25, 25-20, 25-14, 16-14 victory against Petaluma on Thursday. Sylvia Tuerke added 18 kills for the Mustangs (10-4). Regan Smith chipped in with four kills and four blocks. Sage Kushner had a strong game from the service line with six aces.

• San Domenico lost a dramatic five-set match against Waldorf, 21-25, 25-22, 25-14, 19-25, 15-9, on Thursday. Nina-Marie Sadie had 22 kills for the Panthers, while Mackenzie Flinn had 10 kills. Olivia Williams added eight kills and four blocks and Julia Lowenstein came up with 28 assists.

• Tam and Windsor battled in a back-and-forth affair that saw the Jaguars rally for a dramatic 23-25, 28-26, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13 victory over the Red-tailed Hawks.

Cameryn Stewart took medalist honors, carding a 45 to lead Marin Catholic to a 201-245 win against Novato Thursday at Marin Country Club. Brianna Georgeson paced the Hornets with a 56.

Dominican University’s rally effort fell short against Chico State in its second game of the NorCal Kickoff falling 25-19, 25-14, 25-20 Friday afternoon.

Sophomore outside Ella Heckman led the Penguins with seven kills, nine digs and a block, while freshman outside hitter Jasmine Heyward finished with five kills and five digs. Grace Shepard led the Wildcats with nine kills with Lexi Carpenter adding 13 digs from her libero position.

Dominican fell to Cal State East Bay, 25-19, 25-20, 25-20, in Thursday night’s tournament opener.

Cal State Monterey Bay (1-1-1) handed Dominican University of California (0-1-2) its first lost of the season Thursday by a slim 1-0 margin.

The afternoon’s lone goal came in the 72nd minute after a throughball was sent onto the foot of Nayeli Gallo Sandoval, who made no mistake in sneaking one past Dominican keeper Jolie Poulet, giving the Otters a one-goal lead that would hold until the end of the match.

Dominican now looks ahead to Monday when it plays host to Sonoma State University at 5 p.m.
