Covington, Va. (VR) – Recover Virginia, a newly formed and volunteer-led nonprofit organization, is excited to host its second annual Recover Fest event. Recover Fest 2022 will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the Jackson River Sports Complex (at River Rock Amphitheater) located at 870 W Edgemont Dr, Covington, Virginia, from 12:00-9:30 pm. Food and drinks will be available for purchase at the concession stand. Tickets are $10 each and free for kids 12 and under.

Our goal is to continue to promote the importance of treatment in changing lives while honoring lives lost. We do this by raising funds to provide support for Virginia’s communities suffering the most from meth and opiate substance use disorder (SUD) by funding programs and organizations that provide harm prevention and recovery services related to SUD in those areas. This year, we are excited to be supporting two organizations who provide these needs: Nelson Community Wellness Alliance in Nelson County and Compass for Life in Alleghany County. To learn more about this year’s recipients, visit www.recoverfestva.org. Please join us at this year’s Recover Fest event to learn more about how recovery is possible for you or someone you know.

“Recovery is Possible” is this year’s theme. This family-friendly event will present live music by local musicians with an array of genres including modern rock, gospel, alternative, and folk to appeal to all ages. The musical performances throughout the day include Shagwüf, Crimson Reign, Stay True, Fashionably Late, Theocles, and Miss Spitfire. There will also be speakers, prayers, a tie dye station, games, Recover Fest 2022 t-shirts available for purchase (both tie-dyed and plain), vendors, henna tattoos, face painting, an art station, a raffle with items like gift cards from local businesses (Bartley’s Meat Market, Cucci’s Pizzeria, and more), a table with candles to honor those who have overdosed, and information tables presented by various sponsors and community partners. For those outside of the Covington area, we are also raffling off a $50 Wal-Mart gift card online up until the day of the event: https://recovervirginia. rallyup.com/walmart. For questions about the event or how to become a donor, vendor, or volunteer, contact recoverfest@gmail.com.

To have a successful event that helps those who want to recover from substance use disorder (SUD) and addiction, we are also seeking community partners to optimize access to recovery, harm reduction, and mental health support resources and services. Contact Katrina Broughman at katrina@recoverva.org to set up a table for free at Recover Fest 2022 or for additional information.

Tickets can be pre-ordered and more information can be found at www.recoverfestva.org. There will also be an option to donate cash or via PayPal at the event. Contact Katrina Broughman, Executive Director of Recover Virginia, for more information about Recover Virginia, the event’s nonprofit host, at katrina@recoverva.org. For more information about Recover Fest, including available scholarships and volunteer opportunities if finances are an issue, email recoverfest@gmail.com.

The mission of Recover Fest (and our newly formed nonprofit, Recover Virginia) is to address SUD, specifically opioids and methamphetamines, in Virginia’s communities of greatest need through music, art, entrepreneurship, community, and the outdoors.
