Fantasy football, believe it or not: Sit Lamar Jackson, Jamaal Williams and Ja'Marr Chase-CBSports.com

Covers the impact of the coronavirus on the sports world

If you hope to return to "normal" in week 13, I am afraid you will be disappointed. Instead, we got 25 points from Zach Wilson and Jared Goff, while Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes and Dak Prescott all failed to reach 20 Fantasy points. All three big names are behind Gardner Minshew, who once again looks like a good NFL starting quarterback.

Of course, the quarterback is not the only disappointment. The only question is when will we expect something different from Ja'Marr Chase. But before we get into running backs and wide receivers, we need to solve the quarterback problem.

Case: Jackson failed to score 20 points in the third consecutive game. In week 14, he will face the Browns' defense with 11.4 points in week 12. He now has almost as many turnovers (16) as touchdowns (18). In this season, since the 7th week against the Bengals, his average number of passes has not even reached 7 yards per pass.

Jackson's recent performance put him in the same range as Cam Newton and Taysom Hill, and these quarterbacks played much better in Week 14. If you can get any of them, you should let Jackson replace them.

Conclusion: don't believe

This is almost entirely a touchdown problem, I just don't think the touchdown problem is tricky. Surprisingly, Jackson has only one touchdown in 8 of 11 games this season. His passing touchdown rate is 4.2%, and his career pass touchdown rate is 6.3%. His sprint TD rate is only 1.5% this season. Entering 2021, his sprint score is 3.9%.

Therefore, with the worst air and ground touchdown rate of his career, he is still QB7 this season, sandwiched between Aaron Rogers and Patrick Mahomes. Philosophically speaking, this is not the person I even want to sit on. If I drop with a touchdown rate, I will, but I believe Jackson has a greater chance of returning to the remaining top five quarterbacks this season, rather than continuing the current trend.

Lamar Jackson vs. Browns in Week 14

Case: It’s nice to remember that there was also a positive performance in week 13. Gibson has 28 touches for 111 yards and scored against the Raiders. Since the Washington football team's goodbye in Week 10, Gibson is now RB4. During that time, he averaged 27.3 touches and 18.8 PPR Fantasy points per game.

Gibson finally became the top 12 guards he was selected in August.

The only worry is that these four games are also four consecutive victories for the football team, so we have not seen how Gibson will use it in the loss. In the next three weeks, they did play with the Cowboys twice. But I believe Washington's defense is enough to keep them stable in most games, and in style, Gibson will continue to be very dedicated, even if they are very small behind. He is a run that must be started, against everyone remaining in the schedule.

Antonio Gibson is the top 12 running backs remaining this season

Case: Mingxiu averaged 9.7 yards per pass attempt, throwing 242 yards and two touchdowns (without interceptions) at the first start of the season. Jalen Hurts hasn't thrown 240 yards in a game since Week 4. There are only two games with 240 yards throughout the season, multiple touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Unless the Hawks want to make a one-dimensional offense, Minghew should be the one.

Conclusion: don't believe

It looks as good as Minshew. Although I like Minshew Mania very much, it is a jet. The statistical difference between Minshew and Hurts as passers is negligible, and Hurts has added a rushing ability as good as anyone in the league. If Minhew is the starter, Dallas Goldt and Devonta Smith may be better, but injury is a better fantasy choice and a better choice for the Hawks' playoffs hopes.

Gardner Minshew should start playing for the Eagles after seeing you in week 14

Example: Williams scored only 9 points in an aggressive game script against mediocre running defense. He only ran 9 passes before losing to Godwin Igwebuike. In the 14th week against the Broncos, he is unlikely to have such a good script, and if he does not pass the work, he is really not that attractive.

Conclusion: don't believe

He has 18 touches and 80 yards. Passing work is indeed disappointing, which means Williams dropped from the edge RB1 to the low-end RB2, but this workload will keep him in the top 20. The Broncos are sometimes beaten by running backs this season, and Williams should become a short-yard guy if the Lions enter the 5-yard line. If Swift is out, let him start again, just not so confident.

Jamal Williams is a mirage. If DeAndre Swift missed Week 14, he would be a flexible choice at best.

Case: Chase just had less than 60 yards in his fifth consecutive game. He was targeted by Tee Higgins and exceeded production capacity, and this offense did not show that he had the ability to train two wide receivers who had to start at the same time. To make matters worse, as Chase turned what might have been a long touchdown into a costly interception in Week 13, the drop seemed to be back. This does not help him get more goals.

Conclusion: don't believe

During this terrible period, Chase had a game with a PPR Fantasy score of less than 10. He is still very talented, and his success at the beginning of the season should tell us that decline is not important. The appearance of Higgins will only make Chase's progress easier. Even in the face of an excellent 49-man defense, you should start with Chase and Higgins as the No. 2 wide receiver.

Believe it or not in week 13 Ja'Marr Chase is no longer a wide receiver that has to be started
