It’s Wild-Card Weekend in St. Louis. Today (Thursday) I’m at Busch Stadium where the Cardinals are holding a news conference and then a team workout. The pitchers for the Cardinals were just announced: Jose Quintana starting game one; Miles Mikolas game two. For additional news includimg the umpires, CLICK HERE. You can follow me on Twitter at @RobRains and @STLSportsPage.

The Cardinals closed out the regular season on Wednesday with a 5-3 loss to the Pirates in Pittsburgh. Jordan Hicks returned from the injured list and worked one scoreless inning, pitching around two hits. For my game story CLICK HERE.

The game times for the wild-card series between the Cardinals and Phillies are out. Game one will be at 1:07 p.m. Friday and game two at 7:37 p.m. on Saturday. If necessary, game three is scheduled for 7:37 p.m. on Sunday but could be moved up to 6:07 p.m. or 6:37 p.m. depending on the status of the other three series.

All of the games will be at Busch Stadium. Friday’s game will be televised on ABC and Saturday on ESPN-2. If there’s a game on Sunday it will either be on ESPN or ESPN-2.

Last week we announced that the “Go Cards” signs would be available at Gene-Del Printing and at King Edwards Chicken & Fish on Watson and we got a great response. Thanks to Keith Dodel, owner of Gene-Del, you can pick up your free souvenir sign at either location– while they last.

Meanwhile, the Yadier Molina/Albert Pujols lovefest continued with the Pirates presenting gifts to both of them. The photos, right by Paula Reagan show them on the field before the game at a short ceremony honoring them.

St. Louis will be an exciting place to be starting on Friday as the Cardinals take on the Phillies in the Wild Card Playoffs at Busch Stadium.

2. Another key will be finding a way to score against Phillies game one starter Zack Wheeler. In two regular-season starts against the Cardinals this year, Wheeler did not allow a run in 14 combined innings and gave up only nine hits, all singles.

3. The Phillies won the season series against the Cardinals four games to three, with all of the games played over a 10-game span in early July before the Cardinals acquired starters Jose Quintana and Jordan Montgomery.
