On Saturday night, when the Alabama men’s basketball team played against Houston at home, two of the top 12 NCAA NET teams met at the Coleman Stadium.

Alabama won 83-82, culminating in defensive stops at the buzzer back and forth in the second half.

Alabama has won the past 15 games at Coleman Stadium and 30 of the past 35 games, which can be traced back to the most recent loss to Western Kentucky on December 19, 2020.

This is a real-time update as the game unfolds.

Alabama 83 points, Houston 82 points (final): A predictable wild ending, because Houston is 1 point behind and gets the ball with 24 seconds left in the game. Two misses ended the game, although Houston wanted to direct a goal to JD Davidson of Alabama, who slapped the bat at the buzzer. A cougar player followed off-field officials to try to continue the game, but a police officer stopped him.

Houston 75, Alabama 73 (4:00): Alabama’s latest buffer evaporates as the tide falls into a 5-to-1 shooting drought. The Houston team's four starters had four fouls, and this game felt like the last few seconds.

Alabama 70, Houston 65 (7:00): Alabama established a five-point buffer with a score of 7-0, the biggest since the first half. Jahvon Quinerly took over the offense, scoring four of Alabama's past six baskets. Overall, Alabama has made six consecutive shots, and has made eight shots in the past nine.

Houston 61, Alabama 59 (11:11): As Alabama’s lead for most of the halftime disappears, tensions at the Coleman Stadium are intensifying, and the two best teams in the country are trading Leading advantage. Alabama’s three-pointer percentage was only 5 of 13 from the field, and Juwangari’s first-half scoring had disappeared.

Alabama 52, Houston 50 (15:11): Houston started the second half with a score of 5-1 and led by one point, but a three-pointer from Javon Quinali put Tide back in the lead. Alabama continued to benefit from fouls against Houston, who had already committed 5 fouls in the second half and 22 fouls in this game. The Cougars had two players with four fouls, and the other three players each had three fouls.

Alabama 44, Houston 41 (half time): Alabama made a defensive stop, then JD Davidson was fouled in less than two seconds of the game and made two free throws to fill Alabama's lead. It was a strange night. Juwan Gary (16 points) and Noah Gurley (7 points) were the top scorers. Jahvon Quinerly (6 points, 3 turnovers), Jaden Shackelford (6 points, 5 rebounds) and Keon Ellis (2 points) attempted a total of 7 shots in the first half.

Alabama 37, Houston 30 (3:56): Noah Gurley made a layup and fouled before the timeout, but Juwan Gary had scored 9 points before Alabama, setting a career high with 16 points. Houston has no answer to Gary. He has sent him four games and fouled a total of 13 times in just over 16 minutes. If Gurley hits a free throw after a timeout, an 8-point lead will be the biggest game in Alabama.

Alabama on the 26th, Houston on the 23rd (7 minutes 24 seconds): Alabama’s scoring speed has slowed down significantly, and the Tides made six consecutive turnovers in eight offenses. In the past six minutes of the game, it only scored two goals. However, Houston has more than twice as many shots (26) as Alabama (11), and only one shot.

Alabama on the 18th, Houston on the 16th (11:58): Alabama led by 7 points, but the Cougars took a 5-0 lead and began to get rid of the 1-point shooting shortage of 10 shots. Alabama's back-to-back errors slowed some of the established momentum, including a negative reaction to Nate Oates being asked for a technical foul.

Alabama on the 10th, Houston on the 7th (15:48): The Tides entered the media’s first timeout with enthusiastic applause at the Coleman Stadium. They are leading 6-0 and have not missed a shot. Juwan Gary and Charles Bediako scored 5 points each for the first 10 points of the Alabama team, including Bediako's back-to-back dunk to start the game.
